Core Responsibilities :
You will be responsible of collecting / providing data to answer external Audit queries, preparing and passing regular journals : fixed assets and capex inventories entries, preparing reconciliations and determines actions plan to resolve regular occurring differences.
All fixed assets and Capex inventories accounts including aging of un reconciled items and adequate supporting, updating records relating to fixed assets and capex inventories records : follows up and maintains up to date fixed assets and capex inventories records for all relevant fixed assets and capex inventories accounts, closes subsystems and transfers information to ledger and reconciles figures to ledger prepares entries which reflect the up to date financial positions for the fixed assets and capex inventories' general ledger accounts, supplying documentation for internal audit based on requests, running reports to trace GL movements
The person needs to have experience in all aspects of FA accounting, preferably in Oracle ERP, including but not limited to the following specific activities :
FAR reconciliations and updating in the system (including additions, disposals, changes in location etc. of assets)
CWIP transfer to capitalised assets in the FA module
Movement and capitalisation of Technical inventory items upon issue to sites and locations
Ascertaining the point and conditions for capitalisation of assets completion certificate, acceptance etc.
Coordination with Accounts Payable (AP) section for running the Mass Additions interface
In addition to the tasks within the Oracle ERP, the person will need to have knowledge and skills in the following areas :
Coordination with Technical and Engineering personnel to receive and process information regarding the assets in place, assets in progress and other real-
time details to reflect in the accounting routines
Ascertaining the accruals to be made based on available information (such as completion percentage, in-use percentage etc.
received in coordination with Technical and Engineering personnel
Computation of depreciation for manual / provisional capitalisation of assets
Tracking the flow of Technical inventory items receipts, issues, transfers, disposals etc. and their appropriate accounting through to CWIP and subsequent capitalisation
Coordination with Technical Warehouse team to identify reconciliations differences, mismatches etc. based on accounting records including participation in physical counts.
Independently working with and providing requirements requested by External and Internal auditors and other stakeholders including for management reporting purposes
Analysing detailed information linking FA invoices to purchase orders (PO’s) to ascertain the status of PO’s against invoices received and the actions to be taken (close, hold or accrue)
Accounting for adjustments for retention monies and advance payments from / to vendors
PPE note disclosures in financial statements
Any other disclosures and details required from external bodies such as Regulatory bodies etc.
Ability to independently handle and lead projects related to Fixed Assets Register (FAR), Technical Inventories and IFRS compliance (IFRS 16 for example)
The Person :
You should have a minimum of 4 years’ accounting experience in a large Organization with multi-location fixed assets structure, specific experience in fixed assets accounting with a bachelor degree in business or finance.Skills Required :
