Job purpose

  • To be a part of the Middle East Technical Management Team which controls the engineering services and output of the Oman Technical Office.
  • To contribute to the growth and profitability of the RMDK group by fulfilling their role within the business.

    Key Accountabilities :

  • The Oman Senior - Manager will be responsible to the General Manager- Oman for :
  • Input overview of major construction projects
  • Managing the design activities in the Oman offices.
  • Raising the technical standards andmercial awareness of the OMAN Technical staff
  • Ensuring that work carried out in the Oman Technical Offices is carried out to the RMDK BS / EN / ISO Procedures and RMDK Quality Assurance Procedures
  • To contribute to the Middle East and global technical policies.
  • To have an overview, of the technical input for preparation and proposals for major contracts as required.
  • Identify the training needs of the technical personnel within the Oman Technical function.
  • Development of technical standards and co-ordinating the preparation of technical schemes and quotations for customers including calculations, if required.
  • To have an awareness of personal responsibility and a proactive attitude for RMDK Health and Safety issues.
  • To have an overview of operational and management practices, maintenance of systems and procedures within the OMAN Technical function.
  • To provide guidance in RMDK product and engineering calculations to other members of staff when required.
  • To set an example to other members of staff in the high level of professionalism and performance expected at RMDK.
  • To check the work of other Technical Staff when required.
  • To ensure the prompt issue and control of internal Technical Information Sheets.
  • Be aware of and adhere to thepany’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Senior Engineer - Manager will be accountable to the Middle East Chief Engineer, within his area of responsibility for :

  • Design of safe structures within the published limitations of RMDK equipment and national codes or regulations applicable in the location where they are to be used.
  • To be able to manage, motivate and develop team members to produce the highest quality and volume of work possible, as the organisational structure requires.
  • Staff recruitment, training and career planning
  • To have a working knowledge of appropriate national technical standards and be involved in the development of those standards which affect RMDK.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Engineer, auditing of the Engineering Design Policies and Procedures in the relevant business unit
  • Keypetencies :

  • Have a detailed knowledge of calculating wind loadings to BS6399 : 2 and be able to apply loads to non standard situations.
  • Have a detailed working knowledge of BS5975
  • Be able to carry out a full beam design to BS449 including stiffeners andbined stresses
  • Be able to design and detailplex specials to BS449
  • Be able to carry out frame analysis using Masterseries in 2D & 3D
  • Be able to design non standard access scaffolds including sheeted scaffolds.
  • Be able to develop innovative engineering solutions
  • To contribute to the raising of technical standards in conjunction with other senior staff
  • In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer Managermits to

  • Involving teams in agreeing KPA’s and KPI’s for optimal performance
  • Ensuring that opportunities to develop are offered fairly
  • Creating a safe environment where team members can discuss any concerns they may have
  • Giving constructive feedback that will allow team members to improve
  • Providing learning, training and development opportunities to help meet job objectives and to make sure this is helping team members improve
  • Being there to answer questions and deal with issues
  • Conducting inductions and performance reviews in a fair, timely andpetent manner
  • Giving praise where it is due
  • Dealing with under-performance in a professional manner, in line withpany policies.

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge & Experience :

  • Relevant Industry experience
  • Regional experience
  • Knowledge of formwork and falsework systems
  • ME experience preferred
  • Skills - Reference is made to Career Development document - Technical Department IT

  • AutoCAD, Locus (RMDK08) Optima, Euroschal, Windows - Have a detailed knowledge of the software and be able to train others
  • Word - bepetent and confident using the software in standard applications
  • Products & Applications

  • Access, Formwork, Falsework, Support, Clear Spanning - Have a detailed knowledge and be able to apply to non-standard applications.
  • Be able to train others.
  • Project Management : -

  • Take full responsibility for projects with multiple schemes
  • Where the volume of work dictates, manage an interim project team of Engineering Staff in order to satisfy the needs of the project and to report project progress in a consistent format to senior staff.
  • Manage the technical interface between RMDK and the customer for the largest projects with multiple work fronts or structures.
  • Agree and achieve target dates across the project

  • Relatively frequent direct contact with customers to agree progress to date, discuss future project needs and negotiate future deadlines for submission of technical work.
  • Where required to assist the Sales Team in the negotiation of contracts
