Omanis and GCC Nationals only will be considered for this role Role Purpose Assist Head of AML & Sanctions in planning and managing the Sanctions and Money Laundering deterrence function.
Role holder is required to carry out their role by proactively assisting management in identifying and containing Financial Crime Risk by reporting, certifying and fostering a compliance culture.
It is expected that the role holder assists in maintaining a robust Financial Crime Compliance function in line with Global Policy and Principles by providing oversight to all relevant issues, including :
Assisting the Head of AML and Sanctions with Sanctions Investigations.
Identifying and Mitigating Sanctions risks arising through WOLF Alerts that are off-shored at GSC.
Providing advise on Financial Crime Compliance where required to relevant LoB’s and internal customers.
Regular interaction with the Regional team on various matters pertaining to Global Policy and Procedure.
Providing awareness and training on Financial Crime Compliance where required to LoB’s.
Principal Accountabilities : Key activities and decision making areas Impact on the Business
To continually reassess the compliance risks inherent in the business, taking into account changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology / products and services.
Reviewing any new / amended material laws, rules and regulations and Group Policies, assess their applicability to the business areas and guide the business accordingly ensuring all appropriate processes and procedures are amended to comply.
Evaluating and monitoring existing procedures and develop new procedures, systems and controls with specific focus on common systems, off shoring initiatives to minimize the risk of the firm being used for financial crime and ensure the business is compliant with current anti-
money laundering and sanctions requirements.
Customers / Stakeholders
Maintain strong working relationships with Lines of Businesses (LoB’s), internal customers, and Regional team.
Provide guidance to business areas on sanctions risk and exposure related to customer account opening and transactional activity
Coordinate with the BMLCM / BRCM functions across the bank to support LoB’s comply with applicable regulations.
Provide advice on compliance & AML / CTF / Sanctions issues that arise through the country compliance functions
Knowledge and Experience / Qualifications
Educational qualification : Undergraduate in accounting / banking from a reputable institution.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience within the Compliance field.
Strong communication skills in English with knowledge of Arabic
Jobholder should acquire thorough understanding of local regulations law and banking practices
Jobholder should be able to deal objectively and confidently with staff and managers at all levels within the Group.
Jobholder should complete requisite training on Compliance and Money Laundering deterrence and provided attachments for familiarisation with the compliance environment.
