Job Description

Like all members of the kitchen team, the Commis Chef must maintain high standards of health and safety, including personal hygiene.

You will be responsible for producing the most creative and excellent dishes, ensuring that the team members expectations are exceeded and fully satisfied.

The person in this position must be able to effectively communicate with other members of the kitchen team, this includes being able to gracefully receive constructive criticism.

The Commis Chef is a part of the kitchen team, and as such must be able and willing to perform the basic tasks of food preparation and organization in the kitchen.

This ability to create excellence in your own area of responsibility and to support others as they do the same is vital to the successful operation of the team members’ cafeteria and to ensure the enjoyment of team members.

The position is based in Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

  • High School degree
  • Previous experience in a Food & Beverage / Restaurant operations role
  • Passion for teamwork
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Knowledge of basic preparation, presentation and preservation of food
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are :

  • To assist in the preparation & service of food, prepare mis-en-place for the team members’ cafeteria as required.
  • Adhere to Anantara food preparation and presentation guidelines to ensure consistent quality culinary offerings to our team members.
  • Continually look to recommend improvements and additions to the Anantara presentation guidelines.

  • To keep all working areas clean and tidy to maintain hygienic surroundings.
  • Maintain food safety & protection. All food in working areas should be in compliance with food handling techniques, including dating, proper storage, rotation, etc.
  • Maintain basic food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Taking responsibility for looking after all hotel property and facilities.
  • Participating in team members’ welfare committee to improve food quality and services to make team members’ satisfaction.
  • Maintaining and oversee adherence to departmental checklists and cleaning schedules
  • Assisting at team member events and other functions as required
  • Adhering to all personal hygiene and grooming standards, fire safety rules and health & safety rules.
